Calvin for president!
Duh! Not calvin coolidge! He had his time!
But surely you folks remember calvin and hobbes dont you? No? well Its a hilarious comic strip about an adorably cute kid and his (imaginary or secret) pet tiger. Ok I hear you! whats that got to do with anything with politics? right?
well I suspect the republicans find their source of inspiration from the fertile imagination of Mr Bill waterson, the creator of calvin and hobbes.
Let me explain!
There is this one litte particular game of touch foot ball like game, little calvin plays with hobbes the tiger. Its called "calvin ball" The rules of the game? well there are no rules, you make them as you play. If you lose, you just change the rules to make the loser the winner. You make everything you cannot do as fouls, and everything you can do as touchdown, goals and home runs. An incredible hodge podge, leading to some breath taking comic strip scenarios.
Remarkable simillarity!
Take the war in iraq
First it was against terrorist who cause sept 11. No terrorist, ok fine its cause of the WMD saddam had. No WMD, well! saddam was an evil man who gassed his people.
No saddam anymore to fight. Its back to al qaeda stupid! Iraqi resistance? who what where?
Attack on Kerry vietnam record, well he did run on his war record didnt he?
Attack on bush vietnam record, Why are u talking about an issue which 30years old?
Yeah Bush did don a flight suit, it was for the troops, you are cynical if you think that was a photo op!
Hmm electoral map in texas is inconvenient eh? ok change the goddamn map!
Hmm colorada splitting its vote ...Hell no! how can you change a good system?
OK you say thats OLD NEWS...you got to move on dude!
Well Heres the kicker
House Republicans voted Wednesday to abandon an 11-year-old party rule that required a member of their leadership to step aside temporarily if indicted. The Republicans' old rule was adopted in August 1993 to put a spotlight on the legal troubles of prominent Democrats
Hmm wonder why they would do that?
Mr. Bonilla said revising it had been necessary to prevent politically inspired criminal investigations by "crackpot" prosecutors from determining the fate of top Republicans.-NY Times
Top republicans? oh Yeah Tom delay, -three times in a week censured by ethics committee- house majority leader TOM Deeeeeee laaay!
Who knows maybe they are protecting other "Top Republicans" who might be in trouble in the future you know, iraq war, haliburton, you know the works!...aka Preemptive strike doctrine!
By the way, Kenn starr was a honest upright prosecutor, who had to expose the under the desk dealings of the president, No am not taking about whitewater!its the Who? how? where? how many times? what? her! scandal
"Attorneys tell me you can be indicted for just about anything in this country, in any county or community," said Mr. Bonilla, an ally of Mr. DeLay. "Sometimes district attorneys who might have partisan agendas or want to read their name in the paper could make a name for themselves by indicting a member of the leadership, regardless of who it may be, and therefore determine their future. And that's not right."
Surely you dont think Kenn starr was politically motivated, how cynical can you be?
Oh Well sorry Mr Waterson its all your fault!
The only solution I can offer is, Calvin for 2008,(the jokers from democratic camp be damned) but I suspect the republicans might fund hobbes to run against calvin, and you could see the susie swift snow ball veterans tv ads! Maybe even the booger scandals!
Yeah thats right! Lets play ball!
