Calvin for president!

Duh! Not calvin coolidge! He had his time!
But surely you folks remember calvin and hobbes dont you? No? well Its a hilarious comic strip about an adorably cute kid and his (imaginary or secret) pet tiger. Ok I hear you! whats that got to do with anything with politics? right?
well I suspect the republicans find their source of inspiration from the fertile imagination of Mr Bill waterson, the creator of calvin and hobbes.
Let me explain!
There is this one litte particular game of touch foot ball like game, little calvin plays with hobbes the tiger. Its called "calvin ball" The rules of the game? well there are no rules, you make them as you play. If you lose, you just change the rules to make the loser the winner. You make everything you cannot do as fouls, and everything you can do as touchdown, goals and home runs. An incredible hodge podge, leading to some breath taking comic strip scenarios.
Remarkable simillarity!
Take the war in iraq
First it was against terrorist who cause sept 11. No terrorist, ok fine its cause of the WMD saddam had. No WMD, well! saddam was an evil man who gassed his people.
No saddam anymore to fight. Its back to al qaeda stupid! Iraqi resistance? who what where?
Attack on Kerry vietnam record, well he did run on his war record didnt he?
Attack on bush vietnam record, Why are u talking about an issue which 30years old?
Yeah Bush did don a flight suit, it was for the troops, you are cynical if you think that was a photo op!
Hmm electoral map in texas is inconvenient eh? ok change the goddamn map!
Hmm colorada splitting its vote ...Hell no! how can you change a good system?
OK you say thats OLD NEWS...you got to move on dude!
Well Heres the kicker

House Republicans voted Wednesday to abandon an 11-year-old party rule that required a member of their leadership to step aside temporarily if indicted. The Republicans' old rule was adopted in August 1993 to put a spotlight on the legal troubles of prominent Democrats

Hmm wonder why they would do that?
Mr. Bonilla said revising it had been necessary to prevent politically inspired criminal investigations by "crackpot" prosecutors from determining the fate of top Republicans.-NY Times

Top republicans? oh Yeah Tom delay, -three times in a week censured by ethics committee- house majority leader TOM Deeeeeee laaay!
Who knows maybe they are protecting other "Top Republicans" who might be in trouble in the future you know, iraq war, haliburton, you know the works!...aka Preemptive strike doctrine!
By the way, Kenn starr was a honest upright prosecutor, who had to expose the under the desk dealings of the president, No am not taking about whitewater!its the Who? how? where? how many times? what? her! scandal
"Attorneys tell me you can be indicted for just about anything in this country, in any county or community," said Mr. Bonilla, an ally of Mr. DeLay. "Sometimes district attorneys who might have partisan agendas or want to read their name in the paper could make a name for themselves by indicting a member of the leadership, regardless of who it may be, and therefore determine their future. And that's not right."

Surely you dont think Kenn starr was politically motivated, how cynical can you be?

Oh Well sorry Mr Waterson its all your fault!
The only solution I can offer is, Calvin for 2008,(the jokers from democratic camp be damned) but I suspect the republicans might fund hobbes to run against calvin, and you could see the susie swift snow ball veterans tv ads! Maybe even the booger scandals!
Yeah thats right! Lets play ball!

Globalism is over!

The good people of america have spoken with a resounding voice. They have said in one big voice that we care for ourselves only and the world be damned. Good for them! May god bless america as the faithful president extolls. The rest of the world shut up already! Stop whining! You want your voice heard? go work for your own betterment! Figure out ways to strengthen your economy and your military.
Maybe then someday in the future, when you find war clouds looming over our common sky, you would have the strength to protect yourself.
Maybe some of you should find the means and ways to stop the erosion of the environment before the waters rise and the new noah builds his super frigate for the privileged, the select few that would be be taken abroad, while the rest of you burn or be buried in the incredibe deluge of water and fire that surely has to come. For, its not gonna happen here, where a powerful few want that to happen sooner than later.
Maybe some of you should figure out ways to cure disease and hunger, cause this nation is busy banning gay marriages, and turning its indifferent eyes away from men and women dying a slow terrifying death in places which have no oil.
Maybe some of you should show the guts to fight and weed the roots of terrorism mushrooming worldwide, fed by the ferilizer of hate and anger, instead of gleefully using it as a cloak to further ones agenda as I suspect is happening here.
Maybe some of you should try to become rich enough to help this nation when its economy fails due to the short sighted vision of its politicians.
Democracy seemingly and increasingly looks like that it is not the answer towards world betterment anymore...it has become the tyranny of the petty majority. Fear, hate and greed, masquerading as patriotism, faith, and freedom in that order, drives people to vote. All over the world leaders are becoming increasingly popular by invoking the names of their gods and the bonds that are made of blood. Even in the land of liberty, such sad times have come to pass.
So dear citizens of the earth..you are on your own, theres no one to watch your back and hope has lost its way.. So go and toil for your own good thats the only way to your salvation these days...

Fuzzy math anyone?

Lotsa fuzzy math!!!
Point to ponder before tonight's Prez Debate! Will Kerry raise fuzzy math?
Maybe after 4 years of no gore and al(L) bush, do people still want a Prez who doesnt understand fuzzy math?
or would they be like, math is boring, bad geography is good, esp when bombs fall on places where you cant pronounce? After all its much cooler to say ***K tikrit than saying "the feds raised the interest rates for the third time this year"
Frankly that puts us to sleep. ...*yawn*
Personally I would rather sleep than weep! I guess am a lazy liberal! who learnt his math!

Bruised and bloodied!

The VEEP debate took us back to the days of the romans, and the gladiators. A young energetic challenger versus a seasoned, battle hardened veteran. Did I say gladiators, hmm I guess greek gods would have been better. What a titanic clash. The earth and the stars shook. Sparks a plenty. This was the thought that went through my mind. If only cheney was not so morally wrong on his priorities, he would make one of the best leaders, the world will ever see. Unfortunately he is darth vader. As yoda would have put it. The cloak of the dark side heavily hangs surely! not knows he, shame a jedi noble would he make.
Well edwards, like luke skywalker, fortunately got away with maybe just a lost limb or two. Facing darth vader and coming out alive, especially for a novice like him is no mean acheivement.
More skilled combatants like joe lieberman were clobbered by cheney before. Maybe thats when the dark side got into liberman, well thats a different story for another day.
Edwards skywalker, walked out alive and kicking, not bad at all, in the process he scared the living daylights of cheney, but didnt quite expose the force that much as he should have. Maybe 2012 (2008 if the other john goes to the john in the next two debates) would see a more ready eddie!
A tie on technical (substance) points, A resounding victory for the VEEP if you count the body blows... superior attacking verbal skills.
But the overall winner is the veiwing public (read political junkies). It was christmas night for such folks like yours truly!

Kerry on!

First round to Kerry, but will he be the last man standing? 30 days more and two and a quarter rounds to go. The baby faced edwards (He's 51 years old!!!) faces the unctuos uncle Dick, for the next (1/4) round. History shows that VEEP debates are just side shows. Yet these are unusual times.
Only yesterday, most of us were ready to write epitaphs to the presidency of the Johns. As someone had written, 43 came down with a case of ovalitis***,leading Kerry to sucker punch him.
Yet, People celebrating the downfall of Bush would end up making a fool of themselves.
This is just the end of halftime. This game will for sure, go the wires. 43 might stay on for four more years with some generous help once again from the Officials of the game. For all you know there could be the much dreaded october surprise.
Then again, Kerry could bring about an American october revolution.
The now forgotten for the most part, chinese have a saying, for today "We are cursed to live in interesting times" Interesting times for sure, but all I can say is "its time for forty four" kerry on!

*** Ovalitis - an affliction on occupants of the oval office primarily making them intolerant to criticism.

I had this terrible dream yesterday night. A terrible storm rages over newyork, as the storm clears, I find myself on the bank of hudson, and something is missing.
Suddenly it dawns up on me, that the lady is missing.
Yes liberty was missing. I searched high and dry, to see if atleast I could find the floatsam, what a bloated ego I have...I was in this quest to rescue the bulwarks of freedom.
I couldnt even find it. As if the storm had dismantled her peice by peice and had hidden where no human could ever find it.
Disturbing dream. A subconscious allegory, for events I fear that are taking place.
A storm was created, three years ago on a bright september morning, hurricane clouds created on the debris of the towers of freedom, pushed down by the hands of the devil.
A frail, evil messiah had decided the only way to destroy earth is to bring up about hate in this world. A pandora's box so to speak.
Yet in this raging storm, the enemy seems not without but within. The desire to dismantle liberty on guise of safety. Bastardizing reason and throning fear on our bloodied temple. Making us bear the cross and the whiplashes for the sins of others.
Do not get me wrong, no one wants to show the other cheek, some beasts have to be stabbed till their death throes fade. Just because my heart is poisoned I cannot carve my heart out. There must be a better way.
Nurture my heart and yet kill the virus.
I hope my terrible dream never comes true. But in the dark of the blinding storm let us not lose the lady we cherish.
The evil that needs to hear us, should definitly hear from us. Yet at the same time, let not the rhetoric make us deaf ,to what is right and what is not.
People who hold bull horns and bellow out brave words, the could have been greats should no longer be our heroes, if they stand for fear mongering and hate.
Attempts at being decent whether real or feigned should not be ridiculed for being weak. Words might be nice to woo a lover, but not to fight a war. Saying we are right doesnt make one so. Doing the right thing makes you one.
Three septembers later america has a choice to vote from hearts and minds or to vote from a more primitive place, the adrenals, organs of fear and flight.
The beacon of freedom, the light that lady holds shall shine on. No one should be let to steal her.
